Opportunities await Sentinel Federal Credit Union members who are interested in a volunteer position. Volunteering on the Board of Directors or Supervisory Committee is a great way to become
involved in the “people helping people” philosophy of the Credit Union Movement.

The volunteer structure is the backbone of our credit union and of the entire credit union movement. Volunteers act as the member’s representative; they must always keep the member’s best interest in mind. All decisions must be made with integrity and respect for all SFCU members.

Board members serve a three-year term and are elected each year during the Annual Membership meeting in May. You must be a member, in good standing, of the credit union. Supervisory Committee members are appointed by the Board of Directors.

If you want to make a difference for a cause you are passionate about…people helping people by nurturing prosperity or think your abilities can help the credit union succeed, consider joining the board. Being a board member can enhance your career, but it also comes with a lot of personal and professional fulfillment.

There are several reasons to consider becoming a board member:
• Can provide valuable experiences that you may not have otherwise had
• Network with other professionals
• Fulfill a personal interest
• Expand your skills…like leadership, communication, organization, and negotiation

Who We Are

We started as Ellsworth Air Force Base Federal Credit Union, serving U.S. Air Force military personnel on Ellsworth AFB. In 1994, we became Sentinel Federal Credit Union. A sentinel is a guard or soldier that keeps watch—that’s where our name comes from. We’ve been the financial guardian angel for our members since 1955. With deep roots, we’ve grown to serve nine counties in South Dakota. Anyone who lives, works, worships, attends school, or is a business or legal entity in Pennington, Lawrence, Meade, Custer, Lyman, Todd, Tripp, Gregory, and Mellette counties can join us.
